About

Hi, I’m Dave — and My Dogs Run My Life

In the best possible way. Natural Dog Treats Guru exists because I got fed up with not knowing what was actually in the treats I was giving them.

Where This All Started

I’m a British expat living in Spain, and I share my home with four dogs — each one completely different, each one completely wonderful, and each one with their own opinions about what counts as a decent treat.

Over the years I became increasingly frustrated with mainstream dog treats. Flip the packet over and you’re greeted with a wall of additives, preservatives, and ingredients that have no business being in a dog’s mouth. I started digging into natural alternatives, got into raw feeding, and eventually turned that passion into a business — running Canine Corner, a natural dog treats and BARF food operation serving customers across our local area in Valencia.

That hands-on experience — sourcing products, handling them, seeing the difference they make to real dogs — is what sets this site apart from the dozens of affiliate blogs written by people who’ve never actually opened a bag of dried sprats in their lives.

Meet the Real Bosses

Every recommendation on this site has been road-tested on at least one of these four:

🐾 Ellie
Bearded Collie · Age 11

The original. Ellie’s been with me through every chapter of life in Spain. At 11 she’s wise, a little grey around the muzzle, and still absolutely certain she deserves the best treats going.

🐾 Reggie
Spanish Mix · Age 11

Reggie arrived uninvited at our door one day and never left. Best decision he ever made. Nobody knows quite what he is, but eleven years in he’s very much part of the furniture.

🐾 Fizz
Podenco · Age 9

Fizz came to us through a Spanish rescue and hasn’t stopped moving since. Podencos are sensitive souls with equally sensitive stomachs, which has made him our unofficial chief tester for gentle and hypoallergenic treats.

🐾 Morgan
Podenco × Pointer · Age 4

The youngest, also from rescue, and the most food-motivated of the four. If Morgan turns her nose up at something, it goes straight in the bin. If she loses her mind for it, we take note.

Why I Built This Site

Running Canine Corner gave me a deep knowledge of the natural treat market — what’s genuinely good, what’s overpriced, what’s greenwashed, and what actually makes a difference to a dog’s health and happiness. But I was only reaching customers within a few kilometres of home.

Natural Dog Treats Guru is the wider version of that knowledge. Every guide, review, and recommendation here is written from real experience — not cobbled together from manufacturer press releases or Amazon listings. I know what single-ingredient treats actually look and smell like. I know which chews last five minutes and which ones keep a Podenco busy for an hour. I know what a dog with a sensitive stomach needs, because I’ve got two of them.

My promise to you is simple: I’ll only recommend something I’d give to Ellie, Reggie, Fizz, or Morgan. If it doesn’t pass that test, it doesn’t make the site.

A Note on Affiliate Links

Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning I earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays free to run and lets me keep spending time on research rather than chasing brand deals. It never influences what I recommend. You can read more in my Affiliate Disclaimer.
